Abstract:
In his old age, Daniel is now confronted with a new enemy in the administrators and satraps of the Persian government under King Darius/Cyrus. The jealousy of these peers results in a plot to have Daniel killed in the king's pit of lions, his acts of worship having become criminalized by a decree of Cyrus. Daniel's fate seems sealed, literally, but the occasion becomes yet another opportunity for the superior grace, mercy, and power of God to be made known to and through his faithful servant.
